I very much enjoyed the first half of the book, but found the second half a bit tedious. I would give 5 stars to the first 50% and 2-3 stars to the second 50%. The very end spoke about the "deification" of Mary by the Catholic Church and I found this to be problematic as it is incorrect. Catholics respect and venerate Mary, but only God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) would be considered deity. The first half of the book can stand alone as an excellent and thoughtful resource so I would want to be sure and give full credit for this portion of the book as the 10 questions are carefully explored and give very meaningful cause for reflection.Product details

I own the book and audiobook. This book was well researched and written by a highly venerated Biblical scholar and Executive Director of the ISV. This writing will give readers a different perspective on Mary.
I learned things about Jesus' mother Mary that I have never considered. The questions posed and the Biblical answers presented make for some personal soul searching. It would make for good group discussion too.
Although I haven't quite finished it yet, I find MARY to be an excellent read. It's scholarly, which I appreciate, with none of the nonsense and hype that has built up over the centuries about her. Plus the authors has presented some ideas that had never occurred to me before.
